About Ayana
I was born in Los Angeles and raised in Buffalo, New York, before moving to Boston for college. With my family moving to Seattle this summer, Iām excited to explore another part of the country and add a new city to the places I call home.

My interest in healthcare is deeply personal. Losing my grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt to COVID-19 became one of my greatest motivations for pursuing a career in healthcare. Their experiences made me think more critically about the role communication, technology, and patient-centered care can play in shaping the experiences of both patients and their families. I often wonder how different approaches to care may have changed their experiences, which continues to motivate my interest in improving healthcare systems and contributing to a future where patients and families feel informed, supported, and connected throughout their care.

At Northeastern, I am a member of Chi Omega and support our philanthropy, Make-A-Wish. Given my own family's experiences with serious illness, this cause has reinforced my belief that healthcare extends beyond medical treatment and includes supporting the overall experience and well-being of patients and their families.

Outside of academics and healthcare, I enjoy finding ways to stay active and creative. Yoga and long walks with music are some of my favorite ways to reset, and I love exploring new restaurants and places around Boston. I also have an interest in film and enjoy learning more about the creative choices behind movies, which is why I am taking a film course this semester.
